Description

PureTech is seeking an experienced synthetic organic chemist to take a key role in advancing its preclinical discovery programs. The scientist will be responsible for the synthesis of a broad range of constructs including lipid, peptide, carbohydrate and functionalized PEG compounds, primarily through active bench work, but also CRO-based synthesis.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, synthetic route planning, execution and troubleshooting the synthesis of a range of lipid, PEG and peptide-based constructs to support nanoparticle engineering.
• Purification and characterization of new compounds utilizing modern chromatographic and spectroscopic approaches.
• Contribute to managing CRO-based synthetic chemistry teams
• Analysis and presentation of data, provide scientific interpretations and recommendations in both team and company settings
• Execute research projects independently, and ensure that projects support current company goals
• Work with lab management to draft SOP’s, and implement laboratory safety processes.
• Foster a scientific culture of collaboration, innovation, rigor, and transparency
• Actively participate in project team meetings, and contribute to reports, patent applications, and regulatory filings

Requirements

• Ph.D. (or equivalent industry experience) in synthetic organic chemistry + 1-3 years industry/postdoctoral experience.
• Substantial experience in some of the following is essential: bioconjugation, nanoparticle conjugation/functionalization, high-throughput/parallel synthesis, and peptide and lipid chemistry
• Experience in directing CRO-based synthesis is desirable
• Highly motivated and results driven individual with a passion for working in a fast-paced and evolving organization
• Experience with modern ELN, LIMS and database infrastructure as a chemistry user
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and partnering skills
• Excellent cross-disciplinary skills in communicating scientific ideas to non-scientist stakeholders to foster collaboration and deliverable-based team work
• Startup experience is highly valued. Ability to adjust rapidly to changing scientific priorities and technologies
